Fixing your Verbs.
Whats the difference between a noun and a verb?
Verbs are words that describe an action (e.g., swim, is running). Verbs change according to the time of the action.
PAST TENSE: I jumped over the log.
PRESENT TENSE: I jump over the log.
FUTURE TENSE: I will jump over the log.
Draw these words:
Sit
Run
Explode
Went
Is
Sit, run, explode are easy to draw because they are the stronger verbs. Is and Went are not easy to draw because they are weak.
A Powerful Verb is when you use a synonym (a word which has the same
meaning) to make your writing more descriptive and exciting.
Read these persuasive examples:
abolish,define,improve,reduce,accelerate,defuse
Now read these narrative examples:
parkle, tickle, thrill, explode, burst, crack
A strong verb is a specific, descriptive verb used in writing.
Weak verbstell;Strong verbs show.
They make your reader imagine your writing, not just understand it.Therefore strong verbs should be used in all your writing.
